Lucknow (PTI): Admitting that the results of recently concluded Lok Sabha elections were not as per expectation, the BJP on Saturday said it was looking forward to plug the shortcomings. "I admit that the Lok Sabha election results were not upto expectation, but the party is neither disappointed nor pessimistic. We are working to remove the shortcomings," BJP's national spokesman Ravi Shanker Prasad told reporters here. Mr. Prasad, who was here to review party's performance on 16 seats in Awadh region, said there were several reasons, including internal weakness, behind the defeat. "Now we are looking towards the future. The party had witnessed lots of ups and downs in the past, but we have firm believe in resolution of our workers," he said. He said that during national executive meeting it was decided that senior leaders will go to states and review the post poll situation. "As decided by the executive I have been given charge of 26 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Today I held a detailed discussion with the candidates, coordinators and senior functionaries of 16 seats in Awadh region and tomorrow I will hold a similar discussion in Gorakhpur". Mr. Prasad said later he will submit his report to the party's national president. |
